Youth group in the middle east

I enjoyed laying out this story. Surprised to find out there was even a group large enough in the middle East to warrant such an activity. Here is a link to the story (By Kara McMurray), and another link to a page about the Book of Mormon if anyone is interested in knowing about Lehi.

Details

A few details about this spread. The text wrap may look simple, but it took more time than you might think. 'Orphans' were a huge issue at the top of each column of text. Had to do some major polishing of the wrap to make it work just right.

White text on black background also presents some minor design challenges. When printing CMYK the black from the photo is not true black. Sometimes the text does wonky things if placed directly on a dark multi-colored photo. I created a custom shape and fill with true black, gave it a feather, placed it between the photo and white text. Additionally I increased the size of the body copy. White text on black, in general, can be difficult to read. If made too small it becomes torturous to read. My rule is to never go below 11pt in such cases, unless it is a small amount of text.
