Major media highlights timeline graphic

This graphic was done for the Center Spread of Church News. It highlights advances in church media over the years. Something I love about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is how seriously we take the commandment of Christ to share the gospel with all the world. Most religious organizations are merely contented to spread their particular flavor of the Gospel by word of mouth alone. The LDS church in addition to this seeks many avenues in the media to spark peoples interest in the Gospel. I have no idea what percentage of the budget is allocated to media, but I would surmise its a massive amount. Television, Radio, print products, many and vast online media resources and cinema. (Meet the Mormons being the most recent example.) Indeed the "Mormons" as many call them are doing and expanding into mainstream media as much as possible. This Graphic simply displays an historical context of major advancements since its early beginnings. Here is a link to the story if you would like to know more about LDS Church media.

The process

The writer of the story provided all text and photo resources. Taking these into Adobe Illustrator, I worked them until I got what you see above. I chose to go with a light text on dark background feel; using red dots to indicate major advances on the timeline. Integrating the images was probably the most difficult part. I did this after I had all other essential elements in place.
