I was asked a couple weeks ago to create an illustration about parents using management of media to prevent children seeing what they probably shouldn't see. The editor suggested I do something that plays off the Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil concept. As you can see below, I took a quick photo of my family. I used 2 common lamps to try and simulate light coming from the television. The image is kind of rough, but it gave me something to work with.
I first tried to do a more traditional illustration using photoshop. I quickly realized this was going to take too long and I didn't like the look of it. From here I used Illustrator exclusively and created a much more simplified family in essentially the same poses.
